After years of deliberations and procrastination, I finally took a trip to Goa this weekend. And I hadn’t heard the right things about the place. What I had heard of were the EDM festivals, the cheap booze and the food. But no one had told me of the exquisite biodiversity in the place. Perhaps, I was asking all the wrong questions… This photo was taken during a backwater trip through the mangroves, just behind Palolem beach. The boat guy had somehow befriended the birds over there… He kept throwing pieces of chicken, and the eagles and the kites kept leaping in the water to get hold of them. This was one of them, waiting for its turn. I’m not entirely sure if it’s a Black Kite or a Steppe Eagle, but it is magnificent.
